UT2004 server uses only 1 core, it doesn't need 4, that's why the i5 with intagrated graphic. The CPU and RAM are the most important thing for performance. SSD is reliable and fast, helpful for quick map loading. 4 GB of RAM is quite enough. About the connection: it can be better too and I hope that Jendrys is working on that.

I have an question. How fast are the Upload from ur Server?
Btw the Server laggs sometimes, maybe it is an Software-error. Because sometimes when it laggs my ping go down, maybe this helps. What did you mean about that.:) |

There are two things that we call "lagging":
1.When the framerate is low because the engine has to render too much (for example big map with no zones what is noobity, or when an admin spams alot of vehicles XD...). 2.When the ping is high because the internet connection is slow (for example if you move then you get moved away frequently or how can I describe, or when you have a rocket launcher and click and the rocket launcher moves and effects like it would shoot but you need to wait a second or two if you want to see the rocket itself, or when you are in a vehicle and you press <steer left button> then your vehicle steers later...).-> this may be because you are downloading something or just simply slow internet connection etc... |

Sometime the a nice free improvement regards the OS.
With a light debian you could improve the performances without paying anything.. |

It's about the connection too, but TechCom keeps improving it. Getting more RAM is useless, the game doesn't need more than 500 MB. i7 needs a dedicated graphic card, i5-680 is fast enough (currently the fastest i5) and has the graphic in it. The real upload speed of the game machine is about 100 MBit/s, the speed of the redirect (download) server is unknown to me.
I'd like to stay with Windows, the game has been originally created for them.

The situation is getting serious, on many maps (not only the unoptimized ones) the latency is increasing gradually depending on the CPU usage, which is reaching 100 % (Unreal as an old game uses only 1 core). I don't know what's the problem, but it should be solved soon and the new motherboard and CPU seem to be a good solution.

Foib, i don't understand the problem..
I have an Core2Duo 2,4Ghz, and unreal runs on 2 cores! (win7x64) crtl-alt-delete, u can see what core the run on, choose 2 core (standard) if i use 1 core it rises to 100% on that core. now 60% with both cores. If for some reason for u won't work, there are some fixes (patches: amd, intel) to run older games on 2 cores. grtz Kenny |

okay, so we got 290€ so far....
that will get you all you want: CPU Intel Core i5-2500K MB Intel DH67BL RAM Kingston 4 GB KIT DDR3 1333MHz CL7 XMP HyperX WITHOUT the SSD.... but do we seriously need the ssd? just use the old hard drive which should be enough (at least for the beginning) and voilà! ![]() |
