The best thing that would suit my skills is an office job with a lot of bureaucracy. Maybe it is possible to work for the government as a civil job. ![]()

Well, IMO helping your team achieve victory by harassing/distracting big groups of enemies and allowing your teammates to set up nodes can be just as important (perhaps more) as aiming to maximize score. Consider, for example, how it would look if you were leading in the scoreboard with 50-60pts from the second player and your team lost despite that. If you're considered the "leader" of your team, what would that say about your leadership? Much more so, if you were dicking around for score and depriving your team of a vital resource just so you could camp a spot for frags (known example: Tanks-a-lot and ion campers)? My point is, score is nice, but in the greater picture, having a gg and winning it through teamwork and combining all the talents of your different players the right way at the right time is much more fulfilling than bragging about what place your nickname occupies in some list for 30secs after each match. ONS is all about the greater picture rather than selfish pursuits, after all - the strategies, the coordination, the risks and rewards, etc.
You know, I can start a new nick and have a consistent score of >5.50 pts/min just by cherrypicking the maps I play (high pph ones only) and the ones I sit out. Like I said, score/pph isn't everything and it doesn't tell the full story. Btw, army service is mandatory in greece as well - I'll be going myself sometime in this year, actually. Similarly to Germany, there are some exceptions and provisions for ppl to not be drafted here too and very recently service length was reduced to 9 months from a 1 year tour of duty, so at least that's a good thing. crusha_k_rool wrote:If I'm understanding this right, you have paramedic training, Crusha? That's some pretty cool skills there, man! Also, while the 17yo fps gamer stereotype portrays them as rude, stupid, and obnoxious hyperactive teenagers (mostly for CSS), that doesn't mean there aren't exceptions to that. Besides, it would seem reasonable to think that the older a game is, the older the average age of the ppl playing it online tends to be (I know several ppl in their 30s playing UT2k4 from Drunk Snipers). Also, I dunno what exactly you meant with "I have already talked with Peg and I am still alive", usually I don't eat people alive after I'm done talking to them (anymore :p), but from what I've seen of you, you seem like a pretty balanced, calm and well-adjusted individual whose mouth doesn't run ahead of his brain. From what I've read on this msg board, it seems our interests outside of UT also intersect in several other fields too. So overall, props for breaking the stereotype about gamers your age and keep cool! |

pegasus_ wrote: i agree with u. but u know, reaching a high score and pph desn`t means that u have to camp the ion or choose to play only the high pph maps. (i only remember Aggressive to join techcom when a high score map was starting, switching between servers in search for that type of maps) pegasus, u play prty much for your team. u are a good team player i think. i like to think that I am doing all what i can for my team to win. although i am not going behind a goliath and heal it, i will be the 99% offensive player. someone always have to do that. even my nickname tells u what i enjoy to do (otherwise my nick had o be something like "Team`sCook" or smth. =) ) so, one is to get some score by camping, and something else is to earn it by being very active. u have to admit that we have both type of players. |

Totaly agreed with Pegasus about Team victory > lot of points! Good game with balanced teamplay is much more enjoyable than boring round with uncoordinated actions of players but with your nick on top of stack and points in UT-stats. It just numbers...

I would appreciate it, if the features of ONSPlus would be enabled, that increase your score if you are really helping your team.
There are so many players who are assisting there team more, than just killing enemies and building nodes. Let's take as an example the Leviathan. It's very powerful and hard to kill, the whole team has to attack it, to hunt it down, but in the end only one person gets a single point for dealing with a great treat with his team. ONSPlus offers an option to give away points for dealing a certain amount (the number can be set) of damage to enemy vehicles, no matter if they get destroyed. This way, you can on one hand share the points for taking out big vehicles with the whole team, on the hand you would also reward single people, which are killing a tank, because a tank is much more hard to defeat in 1on1, than a normal player and should be worth more points too. Get my point? Every player get's an adequate reward for his piece of work. The amount don't need to be very high, let's say 300 damage-points = 1 score-point. Another situation: the Paladin. A player really helps his team, by staying in defense and prevent the node from being hit with the shield, but he get's not a single point for it, unless the enemy goes for a melee-attack. Now ONSPlus allows to reward players with points for damage taken with the shield. X points for a determined percentage of the whole shield-energy. Let's say 1 point for the amount of one whole shield, since it's reloading fast. Another one: the linking. Players already get points for linking each other while building powernodes in ONSPlus, but there can be more done. Points for restoring a certain amount of health to a vehicle can be rewarded too. Another one: taking enemy vehicles. This is not only useful to the player, who takes the vehicle, it helps your team also, because this vehicle wont spawn at the enemy side as long as the player keeps it. It is possible to give away a point for hijacking vehicles, and that should be done. And a last one: strategic attacks. A good player helps his team not by attacking the nearest node, but by taking that one, that interrupt the enemies line to the own nodes. It is possible with ONSPlus to give away points, if the player isolate a certain number of enemy nodes by attacking the one behind them. He doesn't have to isolate the required amount at once, the number from multiple isolations also counts. I think these things should be enabled since they make the game more fair for real teamplayers. And Peg, thanks for your nice words. ![]() ![]() |
