Hey all!

Just an honest question here from someone who has helped keep the Desert Combat mod alive for quite some time...

Do people actually enjoy the mod?

Are there people who would play the mod, but just don't think there are servers?

Is there anyone here who would want to play Desert Combat, or versions of it?

Desert Combat seems to be dying, with the loss of Maxnet a year back, the loss of ea117 to almost nothing, and the recent crashing and IP change of -[HELLO]- Desert Combat... have all but dwindled the numbers of PvP Desert Combat playing to all but nothing. About three months ago 43 players were on a single server for Desert Combat, but now a good day is somewhere in the 10-15 range, much less than what the DC community has enjoyed in the recent past. I want to get those numbers back up to where they belong and once were. I haven't given up faith, and I am trying to reach out to anyone that wants to support this mod and continue the great legacy it holds.

I have been running a coop DC-DCF-DCX-DCFX server {OTB}BF1942/DC-DCFX/2-1 BOTS} for many years and it attracts perhaps a couple dozen players but that is about it. A lot of us original gamers from the 90's and early 2000's are in there 60's now and our reactionary response time has slowed down significantly with the onset of failing eyesight and arthritis in the hands.

Can you please link the Download to the requested Desert Combat Mods for your Server? It makes more easy to share.:)

I use to have them in the blog but it seems all my servers have disappeared from Gametracker due to the Global Issue? I have posted the back up text from the DC-DCFX server below which includes the links. In the meantime I'm going to try and get my servers back on Gametracker.

HOW TO INSTALL BF1942 AND ALL THE DC THROUGH DCFX MODS in the proper order.

1.) Retail version of Battlefield 1942 (with valid CD-KEYS) (You can purchase the 4 CD disk Battlefield 1942-The World War II Anthology version of this game on e-Bay for under $15.00) Why use CD-KEYS when the game is free now? Two reasons: 1.) Some BF1942 game servers still check to see if you have CD-KEYS stored in your BF1942 game folder directory before you can join the server and if you don't you might end up automatically banned from that server. 2.) Without CD-KEYS no hash marks are created in your BF1942 install and as a result your player will not be visible on Gametracker. You still however will receive score points on Gametracker.

4.) SiMPLE BF1942_-_master.bf1942.org_-_Patch.2.exe (THIS PATCH ALSO ENABLES HD WIDESCREEN SUPPORT. Note: Gamespy shut down in 2014 so this patch will redirect your BF1942 program to a server in France that allows you to become visible on the internet and allows you to see the internet servers so you can once again play BF1942 online. If you want to play the DCFX maps please follow the instructions below for proper installation. By default DCFX1.a and DCFX1.c patch will install into the wrong Program Folder in 64 bit O/S Vista and later. You must correct this by editing the path during the installation process and add the following (x86) to the path statement as shown bellow in step 8.
