GameSpy Servers are currently down & several games have lost 'multiplayer' functionality. Battlefield1942 has been affected as well. There are two work arounds...

Option #1 - Create a Shortcut to launch to your favorite server. Create the shortcut using the template & example below...

TEMPLATE:
"<path to BF1942.exe>" +restart 1 +joinServer <server ip>:<port>

EXAMPLE:
...Create a new shortcut


...Enter the path based on the TEMPLATE. Using MoonGamers TDM as our example--> "C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 1942\BF1942.exe" +restart 1 +joinServer 64.34.179.229:14567


...Name the shortcut


...Finished now play!!


***NOTES:
- You will have to lookup your favorite servers here on Gametracker.com to get the ip address & port information!
- The path to BF1942.exe may vary depending on your environment/ operating system choice.
- The +restart 1 command skips intro movies

Option #2 - Use a launching service like GT or Xfire. I've heard from friends that both services are working fine.

GameSpy Forums had comments about this being an EST 6Hr outage.. looks like we're well into overtime then! lol

It's probably a good idea to download a launching app like GT LITE CLIENT or even XFire. You can add your favorite servers to your list and use these to launch when GameSpy has future issues.

Thanks for your help Lonewolf. When I try to create a shortcut using the information with server you provided, I get a message saying it cannot find path. Below is the path I am using. Am I doing something wrong?

C:\Program Files\EA Games\Battlefield 1942\BF1942.exe +restart 1 +joinServer 208.167.227.104:14567

Ok. I was able to access the server using the GT Lite. Of course no one is playing due to the server problems. I will just have to wait for this situation with Gamespy to play out. I have waisted several hours trying to figure this out and as it turns out, there was no problem with my game or computer. This is a Gamespy server issue.

Not the double quotes in his example?
paths with spaces must be quoted;
"C:\Program Files\EA Games\Battlefield 1942\BF1942.exe +restart 1 +joinServer 208.167.227.104:14567"

Rad - I had an extra quote at the end of the line. I've fixed it all now and that post should work. (Remember that's for an XP machine, if you're using a different OS the path may change some)

ANOTHER WAY:

So here is one of the solution that will help u get back in the online gaming arena for BF1942.

SOLUTION:-
1) In the BF1942 game, click the "MULTIPLAY" button

2) then click the "INTERNET" button.

3) After you click the internet button your game might freeze for sometime. If that does not happen or after the freeze there will be another button called "ADD SERVER".

4) Now click "ADD SERVER" button and u will see a pop up. It will be saying ADD SERVER, then below that there will be "IP: " "PORT: 14567" and below it will be buttons called "CANCEL" "JOIN" & "OK"

5) Now in the "IP: slot" put the ip address of the server you like to play. For example i always play in the PLATS HOUSE OF LOVE server. so the ip address of PLATS HOUSE OF LOVE is 217.112.90.121

6) After you click "OK" button, the server name will be visible in the server list. Then by selecting the server name you can join the online game. THE SERVER YOU HAVE ADDED WILL BE THERE EVEN AFTER YOU COME OUT/QUIT THE GAME.

7) You can add other servers to your server list in the similar way i have mentioned above. You can find the server ip address in the Game Tracker website.
