What is the server's uplink speed? Could be some bad garbage collection making actors to keep broadcast their state over the network and increasing it's load.

Currently it's about 50 Mbps. It does not happen on every map I think, but very often. If somebody has more findings, please post them here, I don't play often in these days.

The worse is the Tripslap, the pings are there always incredible at the end.

TripleSlap does not use any zones at all, that means all Actors of the entire map are relevant to the players most of the time (and you know how spammy the map is, that means there is a lot of spawning and destroying of projectiles going on, one of the most expensive operations for replication), although the map would be perfectly suited for zoning.

I still have work to do until the 16th June, but after that can I take a look.

Yes that is another possible issue. Anyway your uplink is pretty good enough, what do you have specified in UT2004.ini, under [IpDrv.TcpNetDriver], fields "MaxClientRate", "MaxInternetClientRate"?

btw. regarding UTComp Scoreboard, I've mostly made 32p version, it's on LDG, but not fully finished (the font with your name doesn't reduce if it doesn't fit in case your name is too long).

EDIT: Looked on them via webadmin, well you use 10 kBps for MaxInternetClientRate, which is pretty low. I've set 30 kBps on LDG (which is in total cca 8 Mbps for 32 plrs).

I thought and I think that 10000 for MaxInternetClientRate is the maximum and higher values are ignored. Just try to set 30000 and press F6 while ingame, there is no 30000, but 10000 only in the statistic. The MaxClientRate is for LAN server only and doesn't affect the Internet server at all.

It's not a problem with TripleSlap especially. Nevertheless the zoning of this one can be improved (may help us to frag with the dear lg )

Sometimes the lag is incredible during 2-3 seconds.
Things like that didn't occur before.
Can you try to turn off the UTcomp during 2-3 days, and see if the situation is better?

Actually yes, for internet play there is 10000 limit (without patched Engine.dll). Secondly there is also client settings in User.ini, where you have usuallly set 10000 for Cable/xDSL, LAN/T1 has 20000. However this would improve situation only for some players; also keep in mind that higher client speed will mildly increase your average ping.

Regarding UTComp I have no problems with it on LDG even on full server, so I don't think it's the core of the issue.

We've made some changes... If you want to try to solve the lag problems, open your UT2004.ini file and change the MaxClientRate=15000 to 20000, MaxInternetClientRate=10000 to 20000, and type netspeed 20000 into the console (Tab key) while ingame. Share your experience please.

The new UTComp Scoreboard has been also enabled. If you don't like it, you can disable it in UTComp menu (F5 - Misc).

Thanks, Izumo.

In fact we must test if that tip don't increase our average ping?

Just check your ping; if it becomes unplayable, then reduce, otherwise leave. In most cases the ping increase is very mild ( < 1 ms) and therefore not even measureable.

From now on the server will forcibly set your netspeed to 20000; if it was in range between 9500 - 20000. If that is not playable for you, open console and type "netspeed 9499" (so far nobody complained on LDG).

The 20000 will only apply on servers having a special limit bypass, and currently it's only on LDG and TechCom, other servers will limit your net speed to 10000.
