Sigh. You know, if you're gonna fire up the drama, the straight up move would be to post your facts of contention whole:
log wrote: See, it's always more honest to present things in context instead of trying to put others in a bad light by making 'em look like they just made random accusations without good reason. Meh, whatever, you want us to go through your server's laundry? Okay, let's have a go then. - You have slow and aging hardware. When ingame relevance bubbles reach critical mass (>20ppl in the same area all firing stuff), TechCom can't handle it. Even worse when huge chunks of largely unproven code in the form of frankensteinian and excessive mutators like this UTComp/ONSPlus... thing are thrown into the mix. This HW is/was good for a gaming PC, but not for a 32p ONS server. You know this. That's why you've been taking donations for over a year now. - You have a problematic con too that (along with the new mutator) causes latencies higher than all your european "competitors". You also know this. But you're not moving TechCom to a better host/country either. What would it be called there anyway? - You continue to fanatically chase after omni releases (sometimes even meddle before they're even out) aimed at their own brand of mostly spammy/imbalanced ONS and immediately port 'em over here without second thought. Fun fact: over the past few months there's been several ideological debates that one of their most prolific (and woefully misguided) editors has been getting into with some of their (few) more skilled players (and a coder) remaining at omni concerning issues of balance, arrogance and, well, common sense tbh that repeatedly called into question his experience and judgement regarding several of his vec and map edits that you so carelessly adopt. Such kind of players are in considerably higher numbers here. You do the math. To put this shit to rest once and for all, your constant and obstinate refusal to ever step back and re-evaluate the long-term effects of your admining plan (is there even one?) along with the occasional dismissive snide remarks I'd receive whenever I'd try to make you focus on what should be paid attention to or where you're actually headed for finally made me give up trying to reason with you or even want to help you steer this place toward a direction more in sync with what your core regulars and playerbase consider their ONS to be about for their sake. But okay, you know best I guess. We'll find out soon enough. Me, I'll keep having fun where there's still fun to be had during the day (might be popping by once in a while to say hi though; plenty of ppl here I like hanging around with) and trying to help more reasonable people keep ONS alive during the night. Who knows, Pandemonium might even play a part it in! You just keep trying to be more like Omni.eu, you're doing great. ![]() We're done here.

Oh, I see no diferrence in the meaning between these chat fragments. Pegasus, I can't bother you anymore with this crappy server, you're free now, or almost free. laboR, let me congratulate you on having this wonderful guy just for yourself. Let's hope he won't say after few months that your the server is piece of shit and you're a dickhead ignoring his mastermind, no matter what have you done for this game before. Well, I know he didn't edit a single map or donated a single penny, but his kind personality and competent critic is always useful (if you're patient enough to get thru it) for the whole community and every single player. He just loves the old maps and old stuff, ignoring the fact that the most popular maps on every populated Onslaught server are the maps which are spammy or where the new crappy Omni weapons have been used. Ah, and he is clever enough to pay your attention if another servers with a better position and better hardware appear and you woudn't be able to do something without money from the players, of course before he will left there (and maybe after that too). Anything else? Yes. Thanks, Peg. This way it's better for both of us.

In fact, since the îTS server has opened, we have two great losers: TechCom and CEONSS.
Is there only a problem of lag here? I think there's effectively a lag problem, but also players can always play their favorite maps on îTS, see here: CLQ wrote: THIS is why i was speaking of DeathDome, Foibos. Players love this map. Me too, i like it, and i go sometimes (not often...) on îTS in order to play it. We can notice that 25% of the maps are TMU... maybe with players will be bored of it and will comeback a bit. (btw, i'm not sure that the statitics are recent, they give us at least an idea) pegasus_ wrote: This can be solved. Foibos, Ryo and me are always waiting for the possibility of giving you money with mobile. Can you make something? pegasus_ wrote: Are you speaking of Gorzakk? The question here is what kind of maps do the players like? Classic quite spam maps (masterbath, bridge of fate, gunshop, triple slap etc...), VK's maps (even if personally i think they are too spammy, but that's not the opinion of all the players). I think they like omni maps too, with that crazy vehicules. But the whole omni edits isn't excellent. I think we should create a thread for debate of the omni edits before adding them to the server. Some maps like the Dria-Stones are really very good, but others like All-Fall-Down are quite good, at my opinion. foibos wrote: Is it true? Personally i like them a lot too. (especially ascendancy, ahebban, etc..) Nevertheless we are forced to notice that the majority of the players prefer spam/high pph maps like the good old classic onslaught. So we need to adapt our map choice. But i think we shouldn't take all the omni edits. pegasus_ wrote: I always considered well your opinion, Pegasus. I think you have a lot of good ideas, and it's very interesting to read your posts. But Foibos is trying to make the server survive, even if he has not always the good ideas (and foibos, i agree, you are a bit stubborn ![]() pegasus_ wrote: This is severe, Peg. We are not the european division of omni. Furthermore, we offer the possibily of play omni edits (and some of them are really good) to the european players. I think, that we have the best choice of onslaught maps of all the servers. We mix classin maps, spam maps and omni maps. But we don't answer to players desires. They changed. Sadly, if players have choice between Ahebban (or others T32 maps) (that's an example) and DeathDome 90% of the players will choose the DeathDome. Anger and resentment are not a good way of discussion here. To avoid of being annihilated by the îTS, we should try instead to help each other, and debate without contest. Let's keep calm, guys, please! |

kentaro wrote: Except for Raceway would I rather call this list "maps that I hate most and where I am likely to leave the server if they come up". I don't understand today's youth anymore. ![]() Seriously, all those maps feel completely "flat" in gameplay to me, it's always jumping into a vehicle, drive to point A to defend it until you get annihilated by one or two shots. Then do the same again because the enemy is doing the same with point B. VK is doing a good job to bring some alternative routes and more fun dimensions into most of his maps to break through this nihilism of eternal recurrence. Nietzsche would say, he is an ubermensch. But yeah, most of the time when I am playing UT2004 these days, I am currently on the Titan's server because Techcom has most likely a map running that I severely dislike. Omni and TMU edits are praised to save ONS because they would offer so much more different and fun gameplay than the default ONS and the vehicles would add a whole lot of new tactics. Frankly exactly the opposite seems to be the case. ![]() |
