Actually, I've spoken to people that have a Steam account and for the most part, they don't like L4D servers with mods installed because they find the game unfair that way (I think it's more fun). They only like the game in it's "vanilla" form. Personally, I can't even stand to play the game in it's vanilla form now.

There are L4D servers that are full most of the time BUT, it's un-mmoded vanilla servers. There's only a select few non-steam servers that are full all the time. The thing is, people who have Steam usually use the lobby to start a game with their friends and it finds an available server for them. This is why they usually don't play on the same server all the time and they jump around because all the vanilla servers are the same whether you play Coop, Versus or Survival.

People who don't have Steam can't use the lobby and are forced to use the server browser. Therefore they usually stick around in some of their favorite servers, which are usually modded unlike Steam users who mostly like vanilla servers. Another reason why some servers are always empty is because some of them simply just don't show up in peoples server browser (especially for non-steam players). I had to make a custom server browser file so that any time I want to play, it will show me all the non-steam servers that are currently online.

And speaking of non-steam, as soon as the new server is set to non-steam, most people we know will be able to join. The new server IP is 50.31.20.175:26015. If you can't join yet don't worry, that will be fixed, but you'll need to have your game version to 1.0.2.7.

The second IP is 50.31.20.175:26016 but that one is not configured yet.

All valve servers are non modded, where as the most of l4d1 or l4d2 servers that are playable through steam are modded servers.

By the way all that talk of "vanilla" made me rather hungry and thirsty so made me breakfast and made smoothie. "Banana mix with mangoes and an apple"

Type Valve in search here, those servers are the non modded servers. But there are over 700 servers on l4d1 and keeps adding up on l4d2 which most are modded and the few that are not modded are own by valve. Those servers that are not modded is those you mention calling "vanilla" which is quite boring after playing modded servers. But, already knew that.

here is my version of a perfect server dont need fancy stuff but atleast only basic mods to make it enterteinment atleast this:

perks,tanks hp,double tanks cuz its too easy,atleast 3x tougher tanks,crawling,maybe more specials... you dont need more just put this let the fancy stuff out cuz it laggs much its enough to be enterteinment >:D

For some reason it's taking the host company a long time to patch the server to non-steam. I was thinking of patching the servers myself. I searched for the patch but only found the Windows version. I need the Linux patch version. Does anyone know where to get it?

True. That's what I meant by Vanilla=Unmodded=plain. Whoever named it that is an icecream fan I guess.

The Special Infected HP, Super & Invisible Specials, Crawling are all enabled already. The double tank I don't know if that a good idea because I set it so the Tanks can throw another Tank when ever they want. If I put double Tanks, you'll see 4 Tanks all the time.

I set it so that 5 Special Infected spawn at the same time, whenever they do spawn. So you'll see multiple Boomers, Smokers, and Hunters.

The only thing that is annoying me is the Survivor Upgrades. I want to have it, but the mod version that I have gives out upgrades even if you didn't do anything sometimes, which is not how I want it. Once I find a fix for it, I'll put it back again.

you should make get upgrades only when you kill special infected,tankies,witch and healing others on low hp


and loose perks when you get incapicced or die and when you incapacied your teammates or kill your teammates

That's the idea with the perks but it's bugged and it doesn't always work that way.

I can fix it but it will take some time. Unless you know of one that is working already, I will add that one instead.
